On the July 23-24th weekend in 2016, Salt Spring’s Joan Glenn rode 200 Kilometres in the Cycle of Life Tour to raise an amazing $1,690 in donations to support SS Hospice in the Cycle of Life Tour.  The overall total raised by the third annual COLT to-date has reached over $130,000 for Vancouver Island Hospices, including SS Hospice, exceeding last year’s total.

On Saturday July 23rd , 60 Cycle of Life Tour riders went from Victoria to Crofton, to overnight on Salt Spring Island at the Farmers Institute grounds, and then returned to Victoria on the Sunday.  In support of Joan’s ride, her husband Neil drove the ‘Sweeper Truck’.  Fifteen other Salt Springers generously  volunteered as kitchen help and set up crew, joined by other volunteers from Vancouver Island.

As a first for this year’s ride, several Salt Spring businesses and organizations provided local extras for the riders’ dinner and breakfast. Country Grocer was, once again, the overall sponsor of the event.

Next Year we’re going to do it all over again. Let us know if you’re interested in more info.

THANK YOU TO ALL INVOLVED AT EVERY LEVEL !!!!

30th ANNIVERSARY TEA in the Meadow, September 19th, 2014

30TH ANNIVERSARY TEA, September 19th

The meadow right beside our new office was the sunny scene for our 30th Anniversary Tea.  Hospice volunteers, past and present, along with the general community, came out to share tea, nibblies, music,  and acknowledgements  well as catching up with each other.  Many toured our new office next door. The tea was kindly catered by Country Grocer,  the meadow provided by the United Church and  additional help from Island Savings.  A wonderful gathering to share a significant milestone.
